Ms. Thomas is pleased to now be offering legal advice and representation to more families who are seeking justice and compensation in the wake of a private school sexual abuse, and she can now help them seek damages for a far-reaching range of abuses, including the making and sharing or explicit images.

Ms. Thomas has seen that, sadly, the prevalence of sexual abuse and sexual misconduct within American private schools continues to rise, with new crimes like explicit material sharing without consent creating more ways by which the nation’s children and teenagers can be exploited and abused.

As a recent expose by The Guardian uncovered, 52% of alleged offenders of sexual abuse against children today are now children under 17 themselves, a changing figure they attributed in part to the increasingly young age in which children aged 10-17 are exposed to violent pornography.

Kat Thomas, Esq. knows that with AI nudification cases also on the rise, today’s children and families are facing a dangerous landscape, and she stresses that, this being the case, it is the responsibility of private schools to ensure that children are protected from such crimes—whether they are committed by a member of the student body or by their teaching or administrative staff.

With explicit material sharing often doing strong reputational damage as well as psychological damage, Ms. Thomas, the Abuse Guardian for Rochester and the State of New York, encourages victims to come forward and seek legal counsel. In addition to helping a victim report the crime that they have endured, she can help victims and their families to bring forward a civil suit against their school, suing for their negligence.

Should a school have failed in its duty of care to protect a child, they can be sued for significant compensatory damages.
