Castleford, UK. Monday 16th September: Yorkshire-based Access & Safety specialist Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has confirmed that it will soon start work on installing a new fall arrest system at Glasgow’s largest prison, HMP Prison Barlinnie.

Important Project To Commence Shortly

Holding more than 1,000 prisoners, HMP Prison Barlinnie stands as Scotland largest prison and the facility is in need of major safety upgrade work in relation to the roof access facilities. PTSG has been contracted to complete the assignment over the coming weeks.

The Yorkshire-based specialists who operate UK-wide will install a new fall arrest system, consisting of walkway and handrail, to the roof area of the prison. The works will enable building maintenance operatives to complete all future maintenance and restoration work in a safe and secure manner, even when working at height.

Informally known as The Big Hoose and Bar-L by the Glaswegian population, HMP Prison Barlinnie is located in the residential suburb of Riddrie, in the northeast of the city and is operated by the Scottish Prison Service.

The addition of the new roof safety access facility is particularly crucial for the prison as it enters its final chapter before being sold off to be replaced by a new super jail, currently proposed for a site next to Provan gasworks. PTSG’s highly professional specialist services are set to establish the safe working environment for all operatives.

PTSG is well equipped to deal with the complexities of working on a prison site that holds inmates on a 24/7 basis and is set to install the robust and permanent systems required by the Scottish Prison Service. The project, which is set to last a few weeks, is already in the pre-planning stages and is set to be finished before the end of 2019.
