The event was at the Old Capitol Inn in Jackson, MS with awards presented in four major categories—excellence, achievement, innovation, and excellence in trade. Flathau’s Fine Foods was awarded for significant achievement in export for the second time, previously winning the award in 2016. The award adds to the company’s impressive list of accolades that include the 2017 Specialty Food Association’s Sofi Award in the Silver category for All-Natural Shortbread Cookies.

This company is no stranger to success. In addition to being named MS COMPANY TO WATCH by the MS Technology Alliance for 2009, Flathau’s Fine Foods has maintained a record of sustained excellence, winning first place at both the 2016 and 2018 Dallas Market Center Gourmet Gold Awards in the Best Baked category. In 2011 founder, Heather Flathau was recognized by MS Business Journal as TOP 40 UNDER 40 and the company is also an eight-time winner at the Best of Atlanta awards!

Flathau’s Fine Foods manufactures and packages shortbread cookies in seven flavors— plain shortbread, key lime, lemon, butterscotch, peppermint, cinnamon, and raspberry. Another favorite is an all natural sharp cheddar cheese straw, in Original and Chipotle with plans on launching a third flavor in 2019. The company’s special manufacturing process involves the infusion of candy flavors into the dough and garnishment with candy dust & powdered sugar.

According to a spokesperson for the Hattiesburg metropolitan area gourmet snack food manufacturer, “Once again, we are proud to be chosen to receive the coveted Governor’s Award that recognizes our unflinching commitment to delivering locally produced high-quality products to customers around the world. We are delighted to share this honor with our team and look forward to raising the bar for local exports.”

Founded by Hattiesburg residents Heather & Jeff Flathau, Flathau’s Fine Foods is a snack food manufacturer and exporter headquartered in the city of Petal, MS. The company specializes in shortbread cookies and other baked products for domestic and international markets. More information is available over the phone at 601-582-9629 and at the URL above.
