If you have noticed lately, EV or Electric Vehicle chargers seem to be popping up everywhere lately. In an effort to support cleaner oil-free transportation, Ozburn Electrical Contractors, Inc. (OEC) has joined forces with several electric vehicle charging station manufacturers to install EV charging stations for public use. If you live or drive in the Atlanta, Georgia area, you may have noticed some of the EV Charging stations that OEC installed. OEC is presently in the process of helping apartment complexes and other business owners offer EV Charging to their renters, employees and customers.

OEC has become quite the experts at EV Charger installation. OEC has installed EV Chargers in over 40 Walgreen’s locations throughout the metro Atlanta area. Walgreens offers electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at approximately 400 locations across the country making it of the nation’s largest retail host. The company’s neighborhood stores will provide convenient locations for EV drivers to recharge near home or work.

The charging stations will feature either a high-speed direct current (DC) charger that can add 30 miles of range in as little as 10 minutes of charging time, or a Level 2 charger that can add up to 25 miles of range per hour of charge. Charging range varies with make and model of car. See your EV car manual for more information about specific charging capabilities and time.

Ozburn Electrical Contractors, Inc. is proud to be able to help facilitate a more “green” and oil-free environment for it’s clients. Terry Ozburn, owner of Ozburn Electric, says that “helping to reduce emissions is part of the agenda at Ozburn Electric. Fueling with electricity is not only fun and practical, it’s an easy way to help have a clean environment.”

EVs are not only a fun way to get around town, they can reduce the emissions that contribute to an ever changing climate. This helps to improve public health and reduce ecological damage. Charging your EV on renewable energy such as solar or wind minimizes these emissions even more.

Electric Vehicles, known as EV’s, not only provide a fun and responsive ride, they can help the United States have a greater diversity of fuel choices available to the public for transportation. The U.S. used nearly nine billion barrels of petroleum last year, two-thirds of which went towards transportation. Our reliance on petroleum makes us vulnerable to price spikes and supply disruptions. EVs help reduce this threat because almost all U.S. electricity is produced from domestic sources, including coal, nuclear, natural gas, and renewable sources.
