Auckland, NZ—Dr Dave Richards—Dentist St Heliers (09 585 0205)—has announced new updates to its restorative dentistry services, offering same-day CEREC 3D crowns.

With the announcement, Dr Dave Richards of Natural Smile provides a faster alternative to other tooth restoration procedures, helping patients get the smile they want without the need for multiple visits. In a single session, patients can restore discoloured, cracked, or misshapen teeth using Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics (CEREC) technology.

Following the latest service update, the practice now performs the entire procedure, from having the damaged teeth scanned, prepared, and covered, in-house—without the need for time-consuming impressions, temporary crowns, and the long waits required by off-site laboratories. The treatment takes approximately 90 minutes to complete, says Dr Richards.

Unlike traditional crowns, which are metal with a porcelain cap, CEREC dental crowns are an advanced and much more convenient treatment option made entirely of porcelain materials. They are produced using digital imaging technologies like the practice’s toothbrush-sized CEREC Omnicam. With this device, Dr Richards can take accurate 3D scans of the patient’s teeth and mouth, which are then sent to their in-house milling unit, where they are used to fabricate natural-looking dental caps.

These crowns are customised to imitate the look and feel of the patient’s other healthy teeth. They fit better, are stain-resistant, and will, on average, last 12 to 15 years. Dr Richards notes, however, that though one could extend their lifespan up to 30 years with proper oral hygiene habits.

Alongside his one-visit dental crowns, Dr Richards also offers a range of other treatments, like professional teeth whitening for patients with discoloured or yellowed teeth. He offers in-office treatments and take-home whitening kits to meet patients’ unique needs. Learn more at https://www.drdaverichards.nz/teeth-whitening
