Veteran-Owned MarMaids Expands to 180+ Properties

Oct 21, 2026

MarMaids Cleaning Service, founded by Navy veteran Victor Enciso, now serves more than 180 properties across Hampton Roads, Virginia.

Norfolk, Virginia, United States, October 21, 2026 -- MarMaids Cleaning Service, a veteran-owned professional cleaning company headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia, has announced significant growth across the greater Hampton Roads region, expanding from approximately 30 managed properties in 2024 to more than 180 in 2026. Founded in 2023 by entrepreneur and United States Navy veteran Victor Enciso, the company specializes in vacation rental turnovers, residential cleaning, commercial cleaning, and property care, supported by a proprietary operational technology platform and a workplace culture centered on employee development.

The announcement reflects a growth trajectory that began modestly, with a single individual purchasing secondhand cleaning equipment, and has evolved into an established operation of approximately 20 team members serving vacation rental owners, residential clients, and commercial properties throughout Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News, Portsmouth, and Suffolk.

From Military Service to Entrepreneurship

For Enciso, the founding of MarMaids was shaped by his experience serving in the United States Navy, where he encountered a demanding and often difficult work environment. That experience influenced his perspective on leadership and inspired a commitment to building a company where employees would feel respected, heard, and genuinely valued.

"Anyone can call themselves a boss. But leadership is about creating an environment where people feel valued, supported, and motivated to succeed," Enciso said.

After leaving the Navy, Enciso committed himself fully to building MarMaids without outside investors, business partners, or a steady source of income. With limited financial resources, he purchased basic cleaning equipment using credit cards and visited secondhand stores to acquire affordable supplies, including his first vacuum cleaner. During the early stages, financial pressure occasionally required him to borrow money from family members to cover his mortgage, with promises of repayment once scheduled cleaning jobs were completed.

One early assignment remains particularly memorable. Enciso accepted a job deep-cleaning a customer's stove for $30. After accounting for the time, travel expenses, and cleaning supplies, he realized the work had produced almost no profit. Rather than becoming discouraged, he remained focused on building relationships and establishing a foundation for long-term growth.

"I went from borrowing money to pay my mortgage and cleaning a stove for $30 to building a company serving more than 180 properties. None of it happened overnight, and none of it happened without sacrifice," Enciso said.

An Entrepreneurial Foundation Built in Technology

Enciso's entrepreneurial ambitions began at age 14, when he launched his first online business as a web hosting provider. Through self-education, coding, and technical problem-solving, he expanded the operation into a cloud and server hosting business with infrastructure across multiple international locations. By the age of 18, he had built a customer base of nearly 370 clients worldwide.

That early experience taught him lessons in business operations, customer relationships, and the importance of developing efficient systems. These same principles would later become central to MarMaids and its approach to technology-driven service delivery.

The Inspiration Behind MarMaids

Before launching the company, Enciso owned an Airbnb property where he rented individual rooms to travelers, embracing the original home-sharing concept. Over time, he received more than 300 written guest reviews recognizing the property's cleanliness, thoughtful organization, welcoming atmosphere, and overall guest experience.

Many travelers shared that they had stayed in other room rentals but had rarely experienced the same level of comfort and attention to detail. Those interactions prompted a question that would shape the future of the business: if he could consistently create a positive experience for travelers in his own property, could he help other vacation rental owners achieve the same standard? That question inspired the creation of MarMaids Cleaning Service in 2023, initially focused on professional short-term rental cleaning and turnover services.

Enciso's experience as an Airbnb host became a competitive advantage. He understood that a successful vacation rental required more than a clean property. It required attention to detail, reliable scheduling, clear communication, and an understanding of guest expectations. As clients began recommending his services to other investors, MarMaids continued expanding through word of mouth and community relationships.

Growth Driven by Client Trust and Retention

Much of the company's growth has been driven by long-term client relationships, consistent service quality, and the ability to accommodate the demanding schedules of vacation rental property owners. The business has grown primarily through customer satisfaction and referrals, with an emphasis on accountability, attention to detail, and proactive communication.

One of the most significant challenges vacation rental owners face is coordinating reliable cleaning services between guest checkouts and arrivals. MarMaids addresses this with organized scheduling, responsive communication, and dependable turnover services. The company's stated goal is to reduce the operational burden on property owners so they can focus on growing their investments and delivering strong guest experiences.

Turning Operational Challenges Into Innovation

Leveraging his background in coding and software development, Enciso created a proprietary application to streamline MarMaids' cleaning operations. The platform integrates real-time scheduling, crew assignments, payroll tracking, team communication, property instructions, inventory management, and photographic documentation. It also supports maintenance requests, damage reporting, and lost-and-found tracking, improving operational efficiency, transparency, and communication between cleaning teams, management, and property owners.

MarMaids also uses digital tools such as an estimator, online payments, and a client portal through its website at MarMaids.com. The company’s public profiles include MarMaids Cleaning Service on Instagram and MarMaids Cleaning Service on Facebook or contact [email protected]

A People-First Leadership Philosophy

As MarMaids grew to approximately twenty team members, Enciso emphasized transparent payroll, organized scheduling, clear instructions, and hands-on training. His leadership approach prioritizes employee support, efficiency, and consistent service quality.

"My greatest accomplishment isn't the number of properties we manage. It's knowing that I've created opportunities for people and built a workplace where their contributions matter," Enciso said.

Serving Hampton Roads, MarMaids offers vacation rental, commercial, residential, office, post-construction, and move-in and move-out cleaning. The company aims to become one of Virginia's most trusted vacation rental cleaning providers while balancing innovation, employee well-being, and customer satisfaction.
